Build the future of marketing with us
Nalo Seed is an AI-first marketing studio in Austin helping small businesses get found and grow. We're a small team, everyone wears a few hats, and the work you do ships to real clients in days.
We run a lot of our delivery through AI, but the strategy and the client relationships stay human. You'll work at the front edge of that.
We're small on purpose. You won't be boxed into one job description. You'll touch strategy, building, and clients, and you'll grow fast because of it.
We're an Austin shop that shows up for local businesses. Kelly serves on the board of Austin Women in Tech, and we grow through real relationships.
How the work actually works here
Everyone at Nalo Seed is an independent contractor. That means a 1099 rather than a W-2, invoiced and paid through Gusto, and no benefits package. We would rather put that at the top of the page than let you find out in week three.
Rate, hours and scope get agreed in writing before you start, and we do not post numbers we have not agreed with anyone. Where a rate is settled you will see it on the posting. Where you do not see one, it is genuinely not settled, and if somebody tells you a figure before there is a signed agreement, that figure is not real yet.
Most of these start small and grow. Several of them are open enough that the person who takes them will shape what they turn into, which is a real opportunity and also a real amount of ambiguity. Both of those are true at once.
Open roles
7 of them. Pick the one that sounds like you, or scroll to the bottom and tell us the one we should have written.
We build websites, brand systems, decks, social content and the occasional print piece for small businesses around Austin. Right now most of the design happens between Paul, Kelly and whatever we can talk an AI into. It shows in the places it shows.
We want somebody whose actual job is making the work look like it was made on purpose.
What you'll do
- Brand systems for new clients: mark, palette, type, and the one-page guide that keeps everyone honest six months later
- Layout and visuals for the sites we build, working alongside whoever is writing the code
- Social graphics, one-pagers, pitch decks, event collateral, print when a client needs it
- Take a rough AI-generated draft and make it good, rather than starting every file from an empty canvas
- Hold five or six client brands in your head at once without any of them bleeding into each other
What we're looking for
- A portfolio. That is the entire first round.
- Fluent in Figma, or in Canva if that is genuinely where your good work lives. We use both and we are not snobs about it.
- Fast on the small stuff, so there is room left for the big stuff
- You can take "make it feel warmer" and turn it into something specific
- Willing to start from an AI draft and then fix everything wrong with it
(Social Content Maker, if your parents ask)
We want the funniest small business memes in Texas. That is the job. That is the whole job.
Most local business social accounts are a folder of photos and the vague intention to post them. We would like to hire somebody whose entire job is being funnier than that, for us and for our clients.
Some of the work is easy to be funny about. One of our clients is the Austin Chicken Wing Festival, so a genuine part of this role is memes about the specific psychological condition of caring deeply about wings. The rest of our clients are a roofer, a chiropractor and a realtor, which is harder, and honestly more interesting.
What you'll do
- Make original memes and short vertical video, for Nalo Seed and for client accounts
- Take a boring photo of a boring thing a business does and turn it into something people send to a friend
- Post consistently. Not when inspired. Consistently.
- Come to Austin events and make content on the spot
- Tell us when an idea is bad. We will have several.
What we're looking for
- You already make things that make your group chat laugh, and you would like to get paid for it
- Comfortable being publicly funny under somebody else’s business name, which is a specific and slightly terrifying skill
- You can do it on a Tuesday when you do not feel like it
- We do not care how many followers you have. We care whether the thing you made is funny.
- No strategy deck. No colour-coded calendar you will abandon in week two. No degree in anything.
How to apply for this one. Attach one meme you made — made, not saved. That is required, because it is the job. Put the other two, plus a short video you shot and edited, in the links, and tell us in the message which Austin business most needs better memes. A resume is optional here and will not decide it.
Nearly every client we have came out of a relationship. A chamber event, a referral, somebody Kelly met through a board she sits on. That works.
What we do not have is anybody whose week is built around it.
Straight with you about this one. The motion is real and the comp is not settled. We already work with commission reps and we already track referrals and attribution, so the plumbing exists and you would not be the first. What we have not decided is the structure, and we would rather agree that with you in writing than post a number we made up this morning.
What we can say honestly
- Work Austin: chambers, meetups, associations, the rooms small business owners are actually in
- Run the first conversation and work out whether we are a fit before anybody wastes an afternoon
- Hand qualified work to Paul with enough context that he is not starting the conversation over
- Keep the pipeline honest. We would much rather hear "that one is dead" early.
What we're looking for
- You have sold to small business owners before and did not hate it
- Austin-based and genuinely willing to be out in it
- Able to sell AI-assisted marketing to people who are suspicious of AI, which is most of them
- Self-directed, because nobody here is going to build your week for you
Here is what is true today. We have a growing number of clients. Paul is the point of contact for every single one of them. That does not scale, and the first thing to suffer when it stops scaling is the quiet stuff: the check-in nobody asked for, the status update before the client has to chase it.
We think the answer is somebody whose job is the relationship itself. What that person does all day is the part we have not settled.
Straight with you about this one. This one is not written yet and we are not going to pretend it is. Paul has said out loud that he will need this person. Nobody has written the scope, because we would rather write it with whoever takes it than hand them a job description copied off somebody else’s website.
What we can say honestly
- The need is real. The scope is not written. If you want a defined role with a defined ladder, this is not that yet.
- You would be who clients talk to when nothing is on fire, which is most of the time, and is exactly the point
- Where it goes depends heavily on who takes it. Account management, onboarding, retention, some part of the sales conversation. We would build it around what you are good at.
- It would likely start small and grow.
What we're looking for
- You like people and follow-through more than you like being the smartest person in the meeting
- You write clear, warm emails, quickly
- Comfortable saying "I do not know, let me find out" to a client instead of guessing
- Tell us what you would make this job. That is genuinely the application.
How to apply for this one. Because the scope is open, the message field matters more than the resume here. Tell us what you would turn this into.
Part marketer, part builder, part strategist. You use AI to turn a client’s raw business into real growth: content, campaigns, automations, and the systems that keep them running.
If you like turning "we cannot keep up" into "it runs itself", this is your seat.
What you'll do
- Use AI to produce marketing content, campaigns and client deliverables at speed
- Build simple automations that give clients, and us, hours back
- Turn client goals into growth experiments, then measure what actually worked
- Wear several hats: strategy one day, hands-on building the next
What we're looking for
- Genuinely fluent with AI tools, and always pushing them further
- Marketing or growth instincts paired with the drive to just build the thing
- Owns outcomes, not tasks
- Likes variety and does not need a rigid job description
We build client websites and our own internal tooling on Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, Supabase and Vercel, and we run AI through the whole of it rather than bolting it on at the end. That is how a small shop ships real work for a room full of clients.
This is the junior seat on that team. You sit where the sales pipeline meets the engineering: build the demo that shows a prospect what their site could be, then help build and look after the real one once they sign.
Junior here means early in your career, not light on the work. Same repos, same clients, same review as everybody else, with somebody checking your work before it reaches a client.
What you'll do
- Build demo sites for prospects from our existing component templates, roughly an hour each, with enough of their real business in them to be worth looking at
- Run QA passes on live client sites: link integrity, forms end to end, behaviour on a real phone, Lighthouse, accessibility, metadata and error states
- Pick up features and bug fixes on client apps in Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind and Supabase, one project at a time off a prioritised backlog
- Take a turn on the weekly dependency and security sweep across our repos: triage the advisory, apply the update, test it, merge it
- Use AI for all of the above and then check what it gives back. Getting a first draft out of a model is half of this job; knowing which parts of that draft are wrong is the other half.
What we're looking for
- Something you have actually built with JavaScript or TypeScript that we can open. Coursework, a friend’s site and side projects all count.
- Enough React to read somebody else’s component and change it without breaking the rest of the page
- Git and pull requests, or clearly able to get there in a couple of weeks
- You already write code with AI and you do not fully trust it. Both halves of that matter here.
- Careful by nature. A lot of this job is noticing the thing that is slightly off before the client does.
- No degree requirement and no years-of-experience number. Show us the work instead.
How to apply for this one. Send a link to one thing you built and a sentence on the part of it you would do differently now. That tells us more than the resume does, and we read it first.
Or tell us the role you'd love
Most of our best people didn't fit a job posting. We care less about a title and more about what you're great at and what you'd genuinely enjoy owning. If none of the above fit you, tell us the one that would. A few questions to get you thinking:

We run social for local businesses. A roofer, a chiropractor, a realtor, a salon, a chicken wing festival. Every one of them sounds different, and none of them should sound like a marketing agency.
The job is posting consistently for a handful of accounts without any of them reading like the same person wrote them.
