How to Connect Google Calendar to Claude: Setup & First Test

Start by checking availability. Before an assistant creates an appointment, you should be able to verify which calendar it read, the time zone and the proposed meeting time.

Connect Google Calendar to Claude

1. Open Customize → Connectors in Claude and choose Google Calendar.
2. Connect the Google account you use for scheduling and review its permissions.
3. Enable the connector in the chat and ask to see tomorrow's events.

For organization-managed accounts, an administrator may need to enable the connector. Follow Anthropic's connector setup guide.

Check the calendar before changing it

Try: "List tomorrow's events in America/Chicago time. Name the calendars you checked. Do not create, move or cancel anything."

Compare the result with Google Calendar. If you use personal, business and shared calendars, say which ones matter. A gap on one calendar does not establish that you are free across all of them.

Next, try: "Suggest two 30-minute openings next week, after 10 AM, with 30 minutes between meetings. Do not book them."

Those are instructions for this task, not proof that an assistant will remember your preferences permanently.

Can Claude create and move meetings?

Anthropic documents event creation, updates, deletion and recurring meetings. What you can use depends on the permissions available in your account. Review the time, attendees and calendar before a write action. Google Calendar connector capabilities.

Sending an email with proposed times is a separate workflow. Calendar access alone does not establish email access.

If events are missing or times look wrong

Check the connected account and whether it can see the shared calendar. Name the time zone explicitly. If the connection reports an authorization error, check the connector settings and your organization's policy before trying again.

Make scheduling fit the way you work

An accounting practice may need buffers during tax season. A service team may need travel time between appointments. Write down those rules and test a small example before relying on automated scheduling.
